SUMMARY:Vitalant Blood Drive
DESCRIPTION:Patients Rely on Blood\, Not Luck: Donors Needed in March \nVitalant donors could win $5\,000 gift card \nPatients who need blood transfusions often describe the effects as immediate. Nonprofit blood services provider Vitalant urges all eligible blood donors to give blood in March and make a lifesaving difference. \nBlood Donations Make an Instant Difference \nAt 21\, doctors diagnosed Sarah Ortiz with Ewing Sarcoma\, a bone cancer. She underwent a difficult chemotherapy protocol that took a toll on her body. Platelet and blood transfusions helped her eventually beat cancer. \n“I was nervous at first to receive a blood transfusion\, but by the time I was done\, I had color in my cheeks; my gums turned pink\, and I had energy\, so much so\, I became chatty and vibrant\,” Ortiz said. “Each time I received blood I felt like a new person again. It allowed my body to not have to work so hard.” \nAll Blood Types Are Needed \nDonors of all types are needed to help patients of all blood types. The need is greatest for type O\, the most transfused and most compatible when a patient’s type isn’t immediately known. \nMarch is Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month \nBlood donations are needed not just for emergencies and acute illnesses\, but for patients who have long-term health issues. The most common bleeding disorder\, von Willebrand disease\, affects the blood’s ability to clot and can cause excessive bleeding and pain. Among other treatments\, blood donations may help those whose blood does not clot properly on its own. \n  \nA Special Thanks to Donors \nMarch 1-31\, donors who give will be automatically entered into the Lucky Giveaway to win one of two $5\,000 prepaid gift cards.* \nLearn more at vitalant.org\, download and use the Vitalant blood donor app or call 877-25-VITAL (877-258-4825). \n  \nSelect Upcoming Sonoma County Blood Drives \nThursday\, March 6\, Santa Rosa\, Summit Bank\, 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM \nTuesday\, March 11\, Petaluma\, Petaluma Valley Hospital\, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM \nTuesday\, March 18\, Sonoma\, Sonoma Valley Community Church\, 11:30 AM – 3:45 PM \nWednesday\, March 19\, Petaluma\, Sonoma Marin Fairgrounds\, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM \nFriday\, March 21\, Santa Rosa\, Providence Medical Group\, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM \nTuesday\, March 25\, Cloverdale\, Papa’s Pizza\, 1:30 PM – 5:15 PM \n  \nDonors can also give at the Santa Rosa donation center at 3505 Industrial Drive or any other community blood drive.

It offers a chance to meet our passionate educators\, learn about our STREAM-based curriculum\, and understand how our approach fosters bilingualism\, cultural diversity\, and academic readiness in a nurturing environment. Parents will have the opportunity to tour our classrooms\, ask questions\, and discover how La Casita prepares children for lifelong success. \nOur Philosophy \nWe believe children are born with natural wisdom and a high capacity to learn when provided with support\, an engaging curriculum\, and an empowering environment. At La Casita Day School\, children learn Spanish and critical early education skills by being immersed in the language naturally utilizing our high-quality arts-integrated curriculum. Children learn crucial skills that will provide a strong foundation for academic and life success while becoming bilingual and bicultural. \nMethodology \nAt La Casita Day School\, our curriculum is rooted in the “Affective Filter” approach\, developed by renowned linguist Stephen Krashen. This approach emphasizes the importance of creating a low-anxiety environment to enhance language acquisition and overall learning. \nOur Mission \nTo create a safe\, nurturing\, and engaging environment where children learn Spanish and essential academic concepts through the STREAM (Science\, Technology\, Relationships\, Engineering\, Arts\, and Math) method. By creating a calm and encouraging atmosphere\, we empower each child to reach their fullest potential with creativity\, curiosity\, and a love for learning. \nIf you’d like to get a sense of what our program is like from alumni parents’ perspective\, please visit our Facebook and Google pages and read their reviews at: \n\n\n\n \nEnable JavaScript to use search \nThank you again for considering our preschool. SUMMARY:Renegade Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Renegade Orchestra – The Beauty of a Symphony\, the Soul of a Rock Band Welcome to the Renegade Orchestra – it’s time to throw out all the old conventions of a quiet\, sleepy\, stuffy show of musicians locked in straight jackets of tradition.Clap your hands\, tap your feet\, and yell all you want – the Renegade Orchestra embraces the virtuosic skills of top bay area musicians and turns them loose on songs orchestras have never or maybe shouldn’t do. No sleepy pop songs\, no overly-lush jazz standards\, but the pure unbridled fury of what an orchestra can truly do.

SUMMARY:Merging Music and Humanity for Global Healing with Seth Walker
DESCRIPTION:“Often cited as one of the most prolific contemporary Americana artists on the scene today\, Seth Walker is a multi-dimensional talent who combines a gift for melody and lyric alongside a rich\, Gospel-drenched\, Southern-inflected voice with a true blue knack for getting around on the guitar.” In 2021\, Global Healing sold out a benefit concert with Seth to support the work being done in Roatán\, Honduras\, and we’re bringing the magic back again—grab your tickets for a night at the historic Polly Klaas Theater you won’t want to miss! Discover more about Seth Walker here. \nProceeds from this concert will directly support Global Healing’s ongoing efforts in Roatán\, Honduras\, specifically aiding fire recovery and providing the assistance needed to facilitate the hospital’s continued services. Last year on April 20th\, a shocking fire ravaged the sole public hospital on Roatán. Home to Global Healing’s pediatric clinic for the past two decades\, the hospital was vital for emergency care for both children and adults\, performing urgent surgeries\, and providing maternity services\, like life-saving C-sections. Reduced to ashes\, the hospital and clinic left Honduras with even fewer means to deliver essential medical care. All medical equipment was lost. \nDr. Eric Scher traveled to Roatán several times\, helping set up a provisional hospital in a large\, former Adventist church and delivering our donated and purchased medical equipment and supplies—made possible by generous supporters and benefit concert attendees like you. \nOn April 6th\, come for the music (and Barb’s famous homemade whoopie pies)\, stay for the impact! Your ticket not only supports an unforgettable night of live music but also contributes directly to saving lives and helping the community of Roatán heal. \nA special silent auction will be presented during the benefit. If you or loved ones are interested in supporting our benefit concerts through volunteering or donatingauction items for fundraising\, please contact Dr. Eric Scher at eric@globalhealing.org or (415)846-9160. \nClick Here For Tickets

SUMMARY:West Side Stories – Ambition
DESCRIPTION:Every month there is a theme\, hopefully that sparks a memory for you. You put your name in a hat (an actual hat!) and 10 people’s names are drawn at random. When your name is pulled you get 5 minutes to tell your personal true story. At the end of the evening everyone votes by text for their favorite story of the night. If that’s you\, you get $50 and will join the other monthly winners in December for our GrandSlam at the Historic Mystic Theater. Sounds like fun\, right?

SUMMARY:Winged Wonders
DESCRIPTION:This spring\, a fantastical flock of giant bamboo birds lands at the Garden to enchant both the young and young at heart! Marvel at the majestic 20-foot wingspan of an Acorn Woodpecker in flight amongst the Garden’s oak trees; take photos with a friendly 10-foot-tall Western Bluebird; and delight in encounters with larger-than-life owls\, quail\, and more in every corner of the Garden.\nThe colossal sculptures up to 20 feet tall are made entirely from natural materials by Boston-based artist duo Donna Dodson and Andy Moerlein to highlight the beauty and diversity of California’s native birds and the ecosystems that support them. The bamboo sculptures all reflect the species that make their home in the grasslands\, forests\, and vineyards of the Garden.
